Technical Documents Required
In addition to the following guidance for product standards, the machinery directive requires several key documents to be created in a technical file. This technical file can then be handed over with the finished gate product to the client.
For the installer the required documents include the following:-
• Risk Assessment.
• Declaration of Conformity.
• Manufacturers CE marked stamp or label.
• Force testing results.
• Declarations of Incorporation or Conformity from the drive unit & safety device manufacturer.
• Guide for safe use of gate (operational instructions).
• Installation / Maintenance log book.
Risk Assessment
Key requirements:
• Should contain a list of all the risks associated with the gate being installed.
• Layout of design or images illustrating danger areas of the installed gate/s.
• Definitions of the risk illustrated in the layout or images.
• Definitions of practical solutions adopted to either protect or reduce the risk.
Declaration of Conformity
Key requirements:
• Must contain companies name and address details of issuer of certificate.
• Location of installed product, model & serial number.
• Compliance statement to machinery directive 2006/42/EC.
• List of compliance to standards (i.e. BS-
Manufacturers CE Marked Stamp/ Label
Key requirements:
The manufacturers CE marked stamp/ label must be fixed visibly, legibly and indelibly to the product machine, and indicate the following;
• Must contain companies name and contact details of issuer of stamp/ label.
• Model & serial number of gate installed.
• Date of manufacture.
• CE mark.
Installation/Maintenance Log Book
Key requirements:
• Should contain company name and address details of location of installed product.
• Product model & serial number.
• Installation details including settings of control board or any relevant settings effecting operation of the gate.
• Service log area for maintenance/repair of the gate.
• Signature of a responsible person.
